Max has already been lifting his head a lot so I thought I'd let him try "tummy time" on the mat that the Murrays gave us for Christmas. I've been waiting for an excuse to get out some of his toys! He actually seemed to really like it and this is definitely the most awake and alert he's ever been. It's so fun to see those eyes open!
"I can handle this!"
"Ok, now what?"
"That was a lot of work. A nap sounds good."

Big Brother
What kind of mom would I be if I didn't at least mention our first "baby", Oliver.
Big Brother Oli has been a huge help around here. I can always count on him to get up for the late night feedings no matter how tired he is. And if a "paci" drops on the floor Oli is the first to pick it up (he just wishes he could keep it). Oliver is adjusting well to his new role in the family. I think they're going to be best buddies.
Three of my favorite beings.

A Week in the Life of Max...
We've had quite a week! So many new experiences for us and for Max. We had LOTS of visitors at the hospital to welcome Max into the world. Even the nurses commented on how popular he was :) The first photo in the slide show below is everyone waiting for Billy to come out and announce if we had a BOY or a GIRL! (the video is posted below also) It was so fun not knowing until the "big moment". I will never forget hearing Billy say "It's a boy!" at the end of all the hard work of labor. The highlight of our stay in the hospital was spending Valentine's Day with my two sweethearts -- Billy made it very memorable with a special dinner courtesy of the chefs at Classic Cup. When we came home the next day we showed Max around his nursery. It was an experience we all shared because Billy and I hadn't seen it finished either. It turned out really cute and it was such a fun surprise to come home to. Max got his first bath and was NOT happy about it but was easily consoled once it was over. To finish out the week Billy bought Max a cookie cake to celebrate his "One Week" Birthday. He's already growing up too fast :)

And A Baby Makes Three!
"Having a child is surely the most beautifully irrational act that two people in love can commit."
He's here! Max McAlister came into this world on 2/13 at 8:56 AM. Our lives feel complete in a way that I didn't realize was possible. I feel like I've loved this little one my whole life even though we just met. It's true what every other veteran mother told me when I was pregnant...I didn't know what love was until I laid eyes on that puffy little face during the first moment of his life. Billy and I are hooked. Little Max turned us from a "couple" into a "family". And Daddy couldn't be more proud to have a son...watching Billy become a father has been so amazing.
